Time Bomb Undo (05202012)

May 27, 2012 Leave a comment

I thought of waking up to a new day

But it still seems like yesterday.

The day doesn’t end so fast

Until you can call it past.

I woke up in the wrong side of the bed

And I felt a bomb inside my head.

It was like a time bomb waiting

To explode and turn into something.

My friends told me something

On what these problems may bring.

I still don’t know what they’re saying

That’s why I still kept on thinking.

There are some things we do

That no body can undo.

But there are some things we can redo

To make the situation come and go too.

*A poem I made upon waking up to a bad, miserable and devastating day.

Enlightened through Brida (book by Paulo Coelho)

May 24, 2012 1 comment

It has been almost a week since I’ve been confused and out of myself. I’ve been thinking of too many things that I don’t know if there is a real problem. Talking to some of my friends made me more confused.

Back in college, I remembered picking up my first Paulo Coelho Book, BRIDA. Even though it’s expensive for me, it seemed that the book called me to pick it up the shelf. It’s ironic for me to buy this because I don’t know if I believe in Soul mates. Maybe that’s why I bought this, to know if I believe. To my surprise, I love the book (became a favorite) as well as the author.

Remembering it’s story, I thought maybe I can find some answers here. I think Brida and I have the same situation. We are both searching for something. Searching for Love.

Anyway, I was too eager to read this so I finished it for almost a day (with breaks). As I turned the pages, it seemed that every learning of Brida is a learning for me. The answers that I needed were there. I was really enlightened with most passages there.

“…it isn’t true that you want to be alone”

I always tell myself that I need time alone, but the truth is, I need someone to talk to atleast.

“Is it possible to meet more than one Soul Mate..?

-Yes. And when that happens the heart is divided, and the result is pain and suffering.”

“We can also allow our Soul Mate to pass us by.”

I still don’t believe in Soul mates but there’s something that’s telling me that I’ve encountered another soul mate. I think he is really nearby. I can feel it, but I don’t know if he feels it. I’m like Brida. She has Lorens (boyfriend) but there’s Magus (her soul mate). Don’t get me wrong, I love my boyfriend and we’re happy, but there are things that you can’t control. If you’re in my situation, I think you’ll feel the same way as I did, Confused.

“…but what we see is not always what exists.”

As I mentioned, I just feel that he is one of my soul mates, but I don’t know if the feeling really exists. I just complicate things. 😛

“You have to take risks, follow some paths, and abandon others.”

‘Perhaps the times when “it” goes wrong are teaching you something.”

“She was confused about her own feelings. She was defending herself from something she couldn’t understand.”

“Always take the decisions you need to take, even you’re not sure you’re doing the right thing.”

There comes a time that even though you don’t understand a thing, you just have to deal with things and hope that it will work out for the best. 🙂

Choosing to read Brida again is a good call. I’ve been so paranoid and a little depressed because of confusion and Brida helped me figure out things.

BRIDA: 5 THUMBS UP (okay I’m Biased. 😛 )

One good thing that I realized is that there are people who can’t be replaced easily with someone new. 🙂

No one can help you but yourself.

Everybody can let you down.

Never give your whole trust to anyone.

Some things can make you vulnerable.

It can destroy you without knowing it.

Be someone who can assert things.

Never let others dictate what you’ll do.

Motivate yourself. Do your best. Never give up.

Seek help. Seek wisdom. Seek guidance.

**A poem I wrote last 2010. It was a heartache-ing time for me. A lot of heartbreak, stress and depression. Everytime I was close to losing hope, I just remembered this. 🙂

Wicked Roadtrip (New Bombay, The Avengers, Gourmet, Qoola Yogurt & A GanTea)

May 14, 2012 Leave a comment

Recently, I’ve been watching TLC (The Lifestyle Channel). Most of the shows there talks about travel and food, but mostly food. Since I’m a Culinary Arts major, it is a must for me to know the latest trends in the industry and also know different cultures as well.

Most of the time, I eat out with a friend (Marc Mondelo). I love eating with her because she’s the one who taught me to be open and adventurous towards food. I also found out that my good friend Candice is like this. We also eat differently everytime.

One time, we talked about Indian food, its aroma and taste, and decided to have a foodtrip the next time.

Last May 05,2012 Candice, MC and I met to try Indian food. Candice recommended New Bombay since she have tried it. We also decided to watch The Avengers.

Candice said that the price is higher in the Restaurant than in the foodcourt (Foodcourt = 150-200php/dish, Restaurant = 250+php/ sharing dish), but I insisted on eating in the Restaurant for an authentic feel. We tried two of their best sellers.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Mutton Rogan Josh

We ordered Chapatti (bread) and Vegetable Samosa (with mint coriander and tamarind chutney sauce). Both Chicken Tikka Masala and Mutton Rogan Josh are Curry. But they taste different.

Chicken Tikka Masala is Tender pieces of boneless grilled chicken cooked in rich tomato sauce with exotic masala (indian spice) and in a thick gravy. Mutton Rogan Josh is an aromatic gourmet curry dish in India, its unique style  of cooking and the perfect blend of spices garnished with nuts. (As described in their menu)

The Sauce of the Mutton is thicker than the Chicken. The Mutton sauce can be compared to Filipino Caldereta/ Mechado but better and spicier. Between the two, I prefer the Chicken.

Vegetable Samosa

We also like to order their Paneer (Cottage cheese) but because MC and I are Lactos intolerant, we decided not to order this. 😛

Left to right: Candice, MC and I

Taste wise, I don’t have a problem. Or maybe just that it leaves a foul smell (Bad breath). lol. Seeing the Restaurant and the people eating there (mostly Middle Eastern, I think) is intimidating. It’s as if people will stare at us Filipinos for eating there. Anyhow, I told my friends that those people don’t know us so might as well eat and try the food. 🙂 Ambiance is nice and the servers are friendly. Value for food is okay considering that the dish is for sharing.

Okay I had fun eating! enough said. (I even spilled some sauce on my shirt.haha)

After eating an early dinner, we searched for a sweet dessert that can counteract with the after taste of Indian Spices. We passed by Gourmet which sells French Macaroons for 35php. Taste is okay but I like Bizu’s more.

Mc, Hannah, Candice (I can’t remember what we ordered though)

After going to the wash room, we still had time to search for a real dessert.

Mc ordered yoghurt while Candice and I ordered Fruit Tea

We went to Greenbelt and tried Qoola Yogurt and A Gantea. We hurried so we’ll be on time for the Avengers. (Okay I won’t insert a review on Avengers here. )

After the movie, I suggested that we take a photo in the photobooth at Timezone. Due to circumstance, it doesn’t have a Bluetooth thingy.. But I have the Hardcopy. 🙂

In the end, We had a lot of fun. I was with my Highschool friends, we did get to watch the Avengers and We enjoyed our foodtrip at New Bombay. 🙂

NEW BOMBAY: 5 Thumbs Up.. 🙂

Binondo – Intramuros Date with the SR Guys

May 10, 2012 1 comment

Binondo and Intramuros have been one go to place to those who want to shoot, atleast for Shutter Revolution Members. Last May 4,2012, Some members of the group (Eric, Happie, Aden, Lex, Brylle, Teo and I) decided to have  a photowalk and food trip at Binondo.

Some of us met at Ministop Hidalgo while we met others in Fortress. But while waiting, most of us looked at camera stalls. I bought LR44 Battery in a low price (15php, while 25php in malls). Finally I can use my LCA+ again. I also brought Olympus Pen EED. It’s been a while since I last used it. It’s as if I don’t know how to use it again. 😦

Anyway, because the weather is kind of gloomy, we decided to start our walk to Binondo and find a place to eat our lunch. I still remember the last time I was here. I joined the group in our Chinese New Year photowalk.

Chinatown (Photo by: Hannah Nacis Vivitar IC 100 x Fuji Provia)

It was January 23,2012 that they held Chinese New Year. That time, the whole Chinatown was in celebration. Firecrackers and beating of the drums can be heard and performers seen.

Back to the current walk. We decided to eat in the famous “Estero” where they serve frog as a dish (of course it’s cooked). We decided to order Pancit, Buttered Chicken and Crispy Froglegs. At first look, the crispy froglegs looked like the buttered chicken. Some says it tastes like chicken. I don’t know if it’s just me but I liked how good it tasted. Maybe because of the way they marinated or seasoned it. (Okay sorry I forgot to take digital photos).

After lunch, some of us wants to go to Tayhua to check for something (I think it’s cable release). Most of them said that products there are cheaper than in Hidalgo.

After Tayhua, Brylle suggested Big Scoop (escolta) for Ice Cream. (Okay sorry again, no digital photos). I think this was one of the happiest moment. We were actually having fun eating ice cream, especially Eric, Teo and I. We had a hard time deciding what to order. Finally, we decided to order a pint (65php each) of Mint Chocolate and Bubblegum Mallows. Kuya Eric described the Bubblegum Mallows flavor as “Too girly” which seems if eaten Butterfly, unicorn and stars might pop. LOLs.

Walking down (Photo by Hannah Nacis LCA+ Lucky Color)

Due to circumstance, Brylle and Lex needed to go. The rest of us (Aden, Eric, Happie, Teo and I) walked to Intramuros to shoot. Everytime we go to Intramuros, we always stop by the Graffitti wall.

Kuya Eric, Happie and Teo decided to drink (beer) afterwards while Aden and I went home.

In totality, even though they’re all guys, I had fun. 🙂

Peksman (mamatay ka man) Nagsisinungaling ako (At iba pang kuwentong kasinungalingan na di dapat paniwalaan) by Eros Atalia

May 8, 2012 Leave a comment

I think it took me two months to finish this book.174 pages yet I was not so fond of it.

My boyfriend told me about its author. I think Eros Atalia became my bf’s professor back in college. He tells me how good Sir Eros.

For Cinemalaya 2011, his writing Ligo na U, Lapit na me became an entry to the said  Film fest. We wanted to watch it but because it was commercialized (as what my bf said), it was sold out in its CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) show during Cinemalaya week. After awhile, it was rumored to have a mainstream show. We grabbed that opportunity to watch it. It was about Love, life, sex and friendship.

I was somehow fascinated by the film. So I decided why not try to read one of Eros Atalia’s work. Peksman (mamatay ka man) Nagsisinungaling ako (At iba pang kuwentong kasinungalingan na di dapat paniwalaan) was what I purchased in the bookstore. A friend read parts of Ligo na U Lapit na me and told me that her head hurts because of too much info overload. I can’t seem to understand her that time. After reading a few chapters of Peksman, I understood my friend. Peksman was written in Filipino but I thought that eventhough words weren’t that hard, it will give you time to read it once more until you understand what the Narrator’s talking about.

My bf tells me that Eros would like to  bring to the mass theories and facts that the specialists or bright people point out. It is really hard to understand, but I got his point.

In totality, I neither liked nor disliked Peksman. I just think that it’s out of my league.

Peksman (mamatay ka man) Nagsisinungaling ako (At iba pang kuwentong kasinungalingan na di dapat paniwalaan): *I don’t want to give thumbs up here because I neither like nor dislike it.

Bambino Jdrama

May 2, 2012 Leave a comment

Days ago, I became bored again and decided to ask my brother if he has a series saved from his girlfriend. He just lend me the copy of Bambino (Jdrama). I had no idea what it is about. I just like to watch it because it has Eleven (11) episodes.

Bambino Poster

Bambino (Opening)

From the first episode, I understood what it is all about. It was actually a good series for those who has a dream to become a Chef, specifically an Italian Cuisine Chef.

Ever episode was worth watching. It has comedy, drama, friendship, dream, career, love and life stories. Being worth it I mean that I learned life lessons from each episode. Even some episodes made me teary eyed :P.

I highly recommend it to Hotel and Restaurant students and soon to be working in the Hospitality industry for Food and Beverage. It was so far the series that I can really relate to in terms of my career (HRM graduate).

I used to remember how I struggled in the Dining area and also in the Kitchen. For my new readers, I was HRM major in Culinary Arts graduate. I had my on the job training at Tamayo’s Restaurant. During my ojt there, I was assigned at the Dining area first. Like Ban (Bambino), I also disliked being in the Dining area. It’s as if the world turned around. Even in our In house training, I wasn’t fond of the Dining area. But because of Bambino, I now fully understand what I went through.

But I know that everybody can relate to how hard it is to cope up and fit in. Self pity will be experienced, but despite of that, there are people who will help you get up.

Everybody is a Bambino! 🙂

Bambino: 5 Thumbs up 🙂 Yeah I really loved this because I can relate to most of the episodes.

*It suddenly hit me that in a few months time, I will be working in a foreign place.. I don’t know anybody and I don’t know the place.. I think it’s really timing that I watched this series. 🙂

Bambino: A drama adaptation of a popular comic written by Sekiya Tetsuji. After a year of working at a neighborhood Italian restaurant, Ban Shogo (Matsumoto Jun), an enthusiastic, cocky young college student from Fukuoka, comes to Tokyo to perfect his cooking skills as a chef in Italian cuisine. He discovers he has much to learn and has to continually prove himself to the very competitive, quick and efficient staff at the upscale Italian restaurant. (from http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Bambino!)
