Yoga was a change in lifestyle for me

I’m not fond of exercising ever since. Last Summer 2011, a friend asked me to accompany her to the gym. We enrolled. But after a month, we didn’t came back because our OJT started. The experience of exercising again was fun but these days I need a goal. After the Christmas holiday of 2011, I decided to get fit for the summer.

My first encounter on yoga was when I found this book(I forgot the title) which have exercise routines and its illustration . I tried to do the Pilates and Morning Yoga routine here for two months. I started researching about exercise and found out that Pilates is actually based on Yoga. So I started researching on Yoga instead.

By the end of March, I caught a flu and by April, I lost some interest on exercising using the book. But I still have plans on exercising.I decided to buy a Yoga mat and downloaded Yoga Videos. To start off (again), I weighed myself, stopped the habit of drinking softdrinks and lessened my sugar intake and carbohydrates (especially fries and rice).

I found this 4 week Weight Loss Yoga Challenge from Tara Stiles. I told myself that this time, I’m going to do this wholeheartedly. 🙂

Week 1 Total Body Sweat and Tone

Week 2 Unwind and Detox

Week 3 Strong Abs

Week 4 Work those hips

After a month of yoga, I finally finished the challenge last June 03.I lost atleast 9 lbs (I don’t need a huge weight loss, I just maintain my weight eversince) and my body looks better and I feel better than before.

Why Yoga? Maybe because it is convenient for me, suits my lifestyle. I need a lot of peace and quiet thing to do because I think a lot of times. Some might have a notion that Yoga is easy, but it’s not. Focus is needed a lot to stay in a certain pose. As Tara said, your mind and body is used during Yoga. Yoga for atleast 15mins a day can make you sweat. You’ll feel good after doing so. Think of it this way, going to the gym and doing a lot of those heavy exercise leaves you feeling exhausted after workout. In Yoga, it feels light weight and leaves you with a good disposition throughout your day.

I have a good feeling that I can continue doing Yoga even on my busy schedule.

Hopefully, with this, I inspire other people to exercise and to have a healthier lifestyle  like me. 🙂

Feed my Appetite for Art

I’ve been always fond of making To Do List since young. This is my way of keeping things organize and keeping me updated to those things I wanted and needed to do (Short Term Goals).

By late last year, I had put a list on what to do before flying to another country with just few months of stay left here in the Philippines. That time, I don’t know if my list is possible to accomplish with just a little time left.

Anyway, this is my list:

*Organize my papers for internship

*Set up a 3ooopc puzzle

*Buy an Acoustic Guitar

*Write a composition (Poetry, essay, etc)

*Paint on Canvass

*Make and Upload video on youtube

*Make a Lomowall

So far so good right. Because of a friend, I became inspired to write poems and paint. Look at my Literary Menu for my poems. I also started contributing article to Lomography.com. Today I was published again. Here’s the Link on “A Glimpse on My Fisheye World on Canvass”

The Curious Incident of the dog in the night-time ( A semi- book review)

I was searching for something to buy one time I’m at the mall. I wanted to buy something for myself because I’m too sad that day. I tried looking on book-thrift stores and music stores.

Before going home, I finally went to National Bookstore. I prefer buying here because I have a membership card. I tried Powerbooks but they pulled out their membership.

Anyway, I searched for Haruki Murukami and Paulo Coelho. I need to have any book from them. (I’ll just leave this story on my next book blog). On my way to the cashier, a book captured my interest. That red book with an upside down silhouette of a dog. The Curious Incident of the dog in the night-time.

I read it’s plot from the book’s back cover. What captured me was the main character, Christopher. He was a gifted fifteen year old boy who is autistic. I remembered the movie “Mozart and the Whale” which has got to do about autism.

And also, I am really into books who features children.

Reading the book put me into a trance. It’s as if I’m inside the book and experiencing it. I also remembered my Dad. It also reminded me of my Geometry class back in highschool. I was so dumbfounded in every geometry problems we are solving. I am good at math but geometry was an exception for me.

Have you ever come to something you saw on tv or read in a book or magazine then later you actually experienced it? I don’t know how to word out my thoughts about this but I did experience such thing.

Some quotes I like:

“On the fifth day, which was a Sunday, it rained very hard. I like it when it rains hard. It sounds like white noise everywhere, which is like silence but not empty.”

“Sometimes we get sad about things and we don’t like to tell other people that we are sad about them. We like to keep it a secret. Or sometimes, we are sad but we really don’t know why we are sad, so we say we aren’t sad but we really are.”

“Lots of things are mysteries. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t an answer to them. It’s just that scientists haven’t found the answer yet.”

“And then I thought that I had to be like Sherlock Holmes and I had to detach my mind at will to a remarkable degree so that I did not notice how much it was hurting inside my head.”

“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.”

I know the feeling behind these quotes. Reading these made me nod my head to things especially when I’m sad.

I remembered something I read which is something like this,

“A certain book waits to be read at the right time. It will call you to pick it up.”

I think this book is really timely for me. While reading it, I seem to forget my sadness and all the negativity I experienced. 🙂

Ocean is about relationships, struggle and life.

In every person’s life, there comes a time where one must observe his or herself to realize something worth thinking for. Only some of us are aware that the simplest things in life are the best thing there is.

One time I sent a friend my homemade postcard made from vellum card and photo I shot, I told him that the picture has a deeper meaning beyond being beautiful and inspiring. This was the photo I sent him.

I told him this thing, “Life is like an ocean. It’s wide, deep and far away. Despite these things, always remember that there are still people who are there to guide and be with you to reach the end of the ocean.” I wasn’t sure why I told him this thing. But, “Hey it’s worth something right?”

The Homily of last Sunday’s Mass was something of what I said. Hearing this, I became inspired to write something.

Relationships are like the ocean. One must dive through it to see it underlying wonders. Things are at risk especially ones life. The danger of swimming in the deep part of the ocean is too risky even if you know how to swim.You can either go surf with the waves or die if you can’t take too much current. The best way to feel safe in the ocean is to have someone or a buddy with you at all times. But that doesn’t guarantee you anything still. With the ocean’s vast environment, you can only go to the other end by riding a boat or ship. But still, chances are that you are still at risk at all times.

Some says to go with the flow. But sometimes it is better to go against the current. Think of it this way, what if you go with the flow and found that you are going at the deepest part of the ocean, would you still go with it? It’s like in life, going with the flow will be none sense if you know in the end that you will be in danger right? In everyone’s journey towards life, you need at least someone to be with you in order to go to the path you want to take.

EK x Soderno Escape

Last May 25,2012 my friends and I should be skating, but due to reasons, we decided to finally go to Enchanted Kingdom (theme park in Laguna). We were planning this for such a while but we haven’t taken this seriously most of the time. Despite a short notice, we just continued to go there.

Finally, a day to spend for enjoyment. It was on my third year in high school when I last went there. That time, I didn’t enjoy much of the rides. After riding the Space Shuttle (Roller Coaster), the rest of the day was such a pain in the head. I felt nauseated and felt like vomiting. oh well.

It was a big mistake for us to ride Jungle Log Jam. We somehow got wet. Then we continued to ride Rio Grande. It was a mistake for me to wear shoes that day. I should’ve worn slippers due to those rides like these two which will make me wet. After the ride took off, I also took off my shoes and socks even though the Ride operator told me not to. haha. Because I easily get colds, I changed shirt afterwards.

We ate Chimichanga from a Mexican food stall near the foodcourt. Yeah it’s awesome. Sumptuous. Then we rode other rides such as Bump car, Anchor’s away (which made me scream so much) and Ferry’s Wheel. Because of boredom, we made a Lip Synch-ing Boston (Augustana) video up there:


I can’t believe that I was convinced to ride Space Shuttle. But I thought, “Most things are once in a lifetime experience. Why let it pass if you can try even for once.” I like the adrenaline rush it gave me. But after riding that, I felt the same as before, nauseated and vomiting. So we went to the First Aid area and asked for an ointment. We also ate frozen bananas. My bad feeling of vomiting was gone. Yey.

We decided to try Lazer Tag. It was a Lazer Maze where you must get to the buttons and push them. Fortunately, Candice came in second place.

Our last stop before going home was the Horror house. Heck We don’t know if we’re going to be scared or laugh. It was sort of scary at first but we laughed at ourselves. haha. The last person at the exit won’t let us out. We actually said Abracadabra, Alacazam, Open Sesame. I said the chant for levitation (in Harry Potter) and then he let us out. He was a Harry Potter fan I think.lol.

And I forgot to tell you that I bought a Jester hat and wore it the entire time. 🙂

After EK, we had to eat atleast something. We decided to go to Soderno (Night Food Market at Alabang). Food choices were limited that night but we found a craving, Street food ‘ihaw’.
