The Makeup Junky in me

February 16, 2014 Leave a comment

“Makeup is meant to enhance your features.”

It wasn’t long ago that I discovered that I love makeup. I don’t wear heavy makeup whenever I’m at school. Even at work, I don’t need to because no point in putting up a face at the Kitchen. Haha. Anyway, I think it started when I wanted to change my makeup routine in college. I was breaking out most days. I turned on my laptop and browsed my internet to search for a suitable makeup for sensitive skin. That’s when I discovered Mineral Makeup. Since then I was hooked on makeup. I saved my allowance to buy a decent Makeup brush set.

Nowadays I just wear a lot of eye makeup and just use BB Cream, concealer, blush and mascara. But when I dress up I wear a complete look of course.

The only time that I can dress up nowadays is when I’m on my rest day and going somewhere.

Etude House Skin Malgeum Smoother, Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturizer Combination Skin, Etude House Sunprise Cotton Touch Powder Cream Primer

When going to work, I just do my daily Toner, Moisturizer and Face Sunscreen. hmm Did I say I am an Etude House fan? haha. Korean makeup is good for my skin anyway.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium Dark, Garnier BB Cream in Medium, Ever Bilena Mousse Concealer in Honey Beige, Ellana Intensive Coverage Loose Mineral Concealer and Foundation in Almond Latte

My first MAC makeup was this face powder and its Mineralized. haha.

To add color to my face:

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Dark, Stila Convertible Color, Shawill Makeup Blusher 004, Ellana Blush in Bloom Mineral Powder Blush Happiness

I need to contour because of my chubby cheeks hehe. Shawill’s makeup is very pigmented for a cheap price.

Eye Enhancers:

Maybelline Eyestudio lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 01 Black, BH Cosmetics Eye Shadow Primer, In2It Waterproof Eyebrow Color 01 Eyebrowns, Nichido Mineral Kohl Pencil Onyx, Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal 005 Nude, Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil 02 Hot Chocolate, Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion and Lash Blast Volume

My simple makeup includes these stuff. I mean the nude and brown liner, browkit and brown mascara for a natural look.

The palettes that I love:

Image

Pinkies Collection (Not sure what are the names), Beauty Cosmetics 88 Neutral Palette

Because I love Neutrals. This 88 Palette was my first eyeshadow palette I think. Look at that brown shadow almost hitting pan so I am still looking for a similar color as my contour shadow.

BH Cosmetics 120 Color Palette 2nd edition

I just woke up one day and realize that I barely wear color on my eyes and it’s time for me to try other colors besides the neutrals.

BH Cosmetics Malibu California Makeup Palette Collection

This palette is good for travelling. It has neutrals and pop of colors, has a blush and highlighter as well. Love the turquiose blue btw.

Carmex moisture lip balm, Maybelline Baby Lips Color, Hawaiin Tropic Lip Balm Stick Sunscreen, Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lipliner (Pink nude), Color Essence(Not sure what shade), Fashion 21 Color Mood Mystical Mauve. Wet n Wild 906D, Essence Lipstick 01 Coral Calling

I love Lip products especially lip balms. I always have carmex or anything on my bag. And I am not a fan of red lipstick. Im more of a pink girl. hihi

Nyx Matte Finish Fini Mat, Etude House Lip and Eye Remover

Because I am Oily skin, I need a decent finishing spray. And of course I need makeup remover. hehe

Most days, I would just go with concealer, brows and lip balm and off I go. haha

Yoga was a change in lifestyle for me

June 21, 2012 4 comments

I’m not fond of exercising ever since. Last Summer 2011, a friend asked me to accompany her to the gym. We enrolled. But after a month, we didn’t came back because our OJT started. The experience of exercising again was fun but these days I need a goal. After the Christmas holiday of 2011, I decided to get fit for the summer.

My first encounter on yoga was when I found this book(I forgot the title) which have exercise routines and its illustration . I tried to do the Pilates and Morning Yoga routine here for two months. I started researching about exercise and found out that Pilates is actually based on Yoga. So I started researching on Yoga instead.

By the end of March, I caught a flu and by April, I lost some interest on exercising using the book. But I still have plans on exercising.I decided to buy a Yoga mat and downloaded Yoga Videos. To start off (again), I weighed myself, stopped the habit of drinking softdrinks and lessened my sugar intake and carbohydrates (especially fries and rice).

I found this 4 week Weight Loss Yoga Challenge from Tara Stiles. I told myself that this time, I’m going to do this wholeheartedly. 🙂

Week 1 Total Body Sweat and Tone

Week 2 Unwind and Detox

Week 3 Strong Abs

Week 4 Work those hips

After a month of yoga, I finally finished the challenge last June 03.I lost atleast 9 lbs (I don’t need a huge weight loss, I just maintain my weight eversince) and my body looks better and I feel better than before.

Why Yoga? Maybe because it is convenient for me, suits my lifestyle. I need a lot of peace and quiet thing to do because I think a lot of times. Some might have a notion that Yoga is easy, but it’s not. Focus is needed a lot to stay in a certain pose. As Tara said, your mind and body is used during Yoga. Yoga for atleast 15mins a day can make you sweat. You’ll feel good after doing so. Think of it this way, going to the gym and doing a lot of those heavy exercise leaves you feeling exhausted after workout. In Yoga, it feels light weight and leaves you with a good disposition throughout your day.

I have a good feeling that I can continue doing Yoga even on my busy schedule.

Hopefully, with this, I inspire other people to exercise and to have a healthier lifestyle  like me. 🙂

Beauty: Going Natural

February 23, 2012 1 comment

I was recently inspired by the Natural looks that Michelle Phan did in her tutorials. I decided to blog about how I do my own Natural “No Make Up” look. But I won’t post a tutorial here. I am just going to enumerate the steps to achieve it and some products that I used.

1. Start with a clean face (Cleanse and Tone). You can also scrub every two weeks(to remove dead/dry skin)  and have a Mask for extra cleansing/ to refresh your skin). Try using St. Ives Face Scrub  and Mineral Clay Firming Mask/ Queen Helene Mint Julep.

2. Moisturize. I always do this even though I have combination to oily skin. Knowing your skin type will make it easier for you to find product to use. I use Clinique Moisturizing Gel.

BB Cream (Maybeline BB Cream in 02 Natural), Mousse Concealer (Ever Bilena in Honey Beige), Mineral Foundation( L.A. Passion in Dark Beige)

3. Prime your face (for make up to last) especially during hot weather. I’m used to using Barenaturals Skin Perfecting Primer. You can also use BB Cream as your base. I’m still searching for a good product though (Thinking of buying Etude House or Faceshop BB Cream). But in the meantime, I am using Maybeline BB Cream (It causes my skin to oil. Thumbs down).

4. Conceal dark spots and undereye area.  Finally, I got a new concealer and it’s cheap. I am used to using Prestige Concealer in Mocha but I ran out. I found out that Ever Bilena Mousse Concealer is good so I tried getting one. It really did a nice cover on my spots and Undereye area. 🙂

5. Foundation. To aim for a natural look, try using a light to medium coverage foundation. For me, I use Mineral powder foundation (because of my skin type) to even out my skin tone on face. I use a Flat Top Kabuki Brush to buff out the powder. A little goes a long way.

6. Prime Lids (If you have oily lids and for better base). This will intensify your e/s color and help not crease it. I haven’t tried Urban Decay Primer Potion though. 😦 But I’m using E.L.F. Eye Primer stick and I recently got the liquid one(Rreviews said It’s better than the stick.

88 E/S Palette from Beauty Cosmetics

7. Use Neutral E/s. Whether you want a one e/s color or a Smoky look, Neutral shades are the best. Highlight and Contour. Most of the time I use my 88 Neutral Palette from Beauty Cosmetics.

Peach Eyeliner ( Nichido #5 Pink Diamond), White Cream Eyeliner (L.A. Colors in CP401 Sea Shells)

Swatches

8. Line Eyes. Tightlining or Invisible Eyeliner is more Natural. For more natural look, use brown. But If you want a more defined eyes, go for black eyeliner. For Waterline, use Peach Colored eyeliner if you’re not into White. Also try using e/s as eyeliner, just spritz some water on your brush/ spongetip.

7. Curl Lashes and Apply Mascara. This is a good trick to fake a doll eye. 🙂 Also apply Mascara on lower lashes. I use Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion (For Volume and Length).

In2It Waterproof Eyebrow Colour (ER 01 Eyebrowns)

8. Define brows. Use a shade that matches your browhair. Try using Powder for your brows for a natural look.

Blush (Shawil Make up blusher in 004) - So pigmented so a little goes a long way; Contour powder ( Etude House in #6 Shading Sexy Fit)

9. Blush, Highlight and Contour. Choose a blush that you like and apply to the apples of your cheek. But because I’m a round face, I put my blush a bit lower than my apples. I also Contour my cheek area, temples of the forehead and jawline to make my face thinner. I also highlight my browbone and inner tear ducts of the eye using White eyeliner pencil or peach color e/s for a fresher look. (Contouring and Highlighting are optional)

Lip Scrub ( Ellana Pink Grapefruit), Lip Balm (Carmex Classic), Matte Lipstick (Ever Bilena Off Beat Pink), Lipliner (Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lipliner #1)

Swatches

10. Put Color into your lips. Scrub your lips to remove dry patches of skin and for fuller and smoother lips. You can either put plain lip Balm (I love Carmex), tinted balm (try Etude House Apricot Stick or Barenaturals Lip products)  or Lip gloss (try Face Shop Glosses). But I used a Matte Pink lipstick for a cute finish. 🙂 For a long wearing and even fuller lips, use Lipliner (Color closest to your lip color).

*For touch up:

1. Blot first your face whether it’s blotting paper or a tissue paper.

2. Touch up using powder

3. If entire lipcolor faded, Erase first the color of your lips  and reapply.

*By the end of the day:

Etude House Lip and Eye Remover

1. Don’t forget to Remove your Make up with a remover. This will make it easier for you to cleanse your face thoroughly. If you don’t have a remover, try using Olive oil.

2. Cleanse

3. Moisturize

**PM me if you want to know more about the products or anything. 🙂
