Lodging into my Comfortable Silence

January 7, 2014 Leave a comment

What a very long day for me. I slept late again last night talking to my boyfriend. I had a split shift (6-10am, 3-9pm) duty today. I felt tired waking up too early. During my five hour break, I couldn’t fall asleep maybe because of that Macchiato that I had during breakfast. I was staring at the ceiling, closing my eyes and opening them again. I can’t sleep. I have to do something that would tire me. I opened my laptop and logged into my WordPress. I had composed something for my “Taking Back Tuesdays”, but I ended up not posting it. I don’t know if this is the right time to post it.

Still wide awake, I just dressed for work, ate lunch while listening to Ed Sheeran. I posted the status “Comfortable Silence” on my facebook because I want to lodge myself in that zone. By the end of Dinner service, I went home, ate dinner and took a shower.  I just need a quiet time alone to rest and relax even just for tonight. I didn’t even wake up my boyfriend so he can also rest well. I feel like I’m floating in space tonight. I can’t think of anything, of anyone. It seems that I have a weak body and soul that I can easily be put into trance.

My playlist for tonight’s Comfortable Silence:

  1. Closing Time – Matchbox 20
  2. Halflife – Duncan Sheik
  3. The Scientist – Coldplay
  4. Pale Yellow Light (I love their entire album)
  5. Pause & Meron ba – Kjwan
  6. Sleepwalk Circus ( the artist whom I listen to whenever I need to relax)
  7. Musical O (almost same as #6)
  8. Alanis Morisette
  9. Deep – Binocular
  10. Superman –  Five for Fighting
  11. Bizare Love Triangle – Frente
  12. Drive – Incubus
  13. Power of two – Indigo Girls
  14. Shakespeare in love – Layla Kaylif
  15. I’d Rather – Luther Vandross

And now I am finally dozing off. Finally… ZZZZzzzzzzzz

Up Dharma Down brought us together once again

April 11, 2012 Leave a comment

Last March 24,2012 was a great night for my friends and I.

Through twitter, I read Up Dharma Down’s post about their gig that night at San Miguel Pub at Alabang Town Center.

My friends (Candice, Marc and Kristoffer) and I always go to this gig once in a while. As I remember, this is where we first hang out and since then, we spend time every time we can. I think this is our third time together in UDD gig.

Tonight, we have another friend who came with us. She was Rain. She said that it was her first time to watch an OPM Indie Band. Yey for Rain. 🙂

Not Another Boy Band opened the gig. Candice and I watched them back in Rock the Riles 2011. This band made me realize that I still have a chance as a singer and/or in a band.lolz. Check them out here:

They really make me smile through their music. 🙂 They are fun and youthful (hehe). Just check them out if you want to enjoy your time.

Up Dharma Down really made an impact on my friends and I. I don’t know about them but I love UDD thus where I founded my blog’s name (from their song Sugarcoats and Heartbeats). I found their songs so captivating that every words seemed they’re for me. 😛 Anyway, I think in this gig, they played some new songs ( I’m not sure though) or songs that I’m not familiar perhaps. But they didn’t forget to play their popular songs which where Tadhana and Indak.

Because Kristoffer wasn’t able to attend the gig (because of duty), he decided if we can just meet him after the gig. While we are still outside the San Mig Pub, our friends Katherine and RJ passed by and so we said Hi to them. We asked Rj to take our photo (Thank you). Nice seeing those guys. 🙂

We stayed up almost 3am at Starbucks near Molito. We did catched up with stories and such. Going home, I decided to let Candice stay at my home while Marc at Rain’s.

Truly, Up Dharma Down brought us together once again. 🙂

**Not Another Boy Band and Up Dharma Down were in the same record label which is Terno Recording. They are also with Encounters with Yeti, Radioactive Sago Project, Sleepwalk Circus, Musical O and other Indie bands.

Belle and Sebastian: Dear Catastrophe Waitress

March 31, 2012 1 comment

I accompanied my friend into a computer shop in which there are bargain books. I saw an unknown cd. It was Belle and Sebastian’s Dear Catastrophe Waitress. As I hear each song, I remembered one of my favorite book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

Album Cover

Anyway, the entire album dated 2003 became a reminder that I don’t have to feel sad. I just need to listen to these kind of songs to figure that I am not sad. I just feel uneasy or misunderstood.

I am weird but in a good way I guess. I am not the typical girl next door who likes pop songs or dances to rnb hiphop beats. I am not a rocker chick nor a ballad one. I can’t fully describe what interests me but I know that i’m different from others. 🙂

Belle & Sebastian Dear Catastrophe Waitress: 3.5 thumbs up

Go out and form a band: A Rakenrol post

October 9, 2011 Leave a comment

Last Sept 25,2011 My friends and I watched RAKENROL. We waited for its showing for a long time. All of us became excited to watch it.

RAKENROL CASTS

It is about Odie and his friend Irene who decided to form a band out of nowhere. It maybe about friendship, trials and also about love. It is quirky and a fun movie to watch.

Everytime we saw scenes from gigs and bands, we have a “wow face.” It seems that  the entire movie is made for those like us who are bonded by our love for Music, for indie bands and for OPM. I don’t know but I think it really is a good movie to watch. But you will really appreciate it if you are an OPM/ indie band fan.

We were lucky to see Rivermaya’s bassist, Japs.

RAKENROL: 5 thumbs up

Odie and his best friend Irene are two outsiders who find a second home in the Philippine underground music scene. The two decide to form a band and put together an unlikely crew that consists of the school bully, an ex-punk-turned-barista, and a former-childstar-turned-band-manager. The film follows their misadventures as they face satanic S&M bands, samurai swindlers, narcissistic rockstars, the pretentious Philippine art community and the freakiest music video auteur ever. Co-written by Diego Castillo, the guitarist of one of the Philippines’ biggest rock bands SANDWICH, and directed by multi-awarded music video director Quark Henares, Rakenrol is a heartfelt ode to the underground scene both filmmakers spent their formative years in.

Starring: Jason Abalos, Glaiza de Castro, Alwyn Uytingco, Ketchup Eusebio, Diether Ocampo, Matet de Leon, Ramon Bautista, Jun Sabayton

Casette Tape MP3 Review

May 24, 2011 Leave a comment

My friends and I were strolling the mall while waiting for the time. We passed by Dimensions in Robinson Place Ermita. We saw those colorful things that’s why we went inside to check it out.

There was a toylike radio, Casette Tape MP3 and Robot Speaker. At first, they may seem to be toys and just home ornaments. But checking it, it actually works. Seeing the cute colors and the functions, I decided to purchase the Tape the next time I go there. Maybe as a Birthday present for myself.

You may know for a fact that I cannot leave home without my IPOD or any musical device. My Ipod is almost 5 years old so I really take care of it alot.

My On-the-Job Training (OJT) just started and I was at Tamayo’s Intramuros. Not knowing the place, I think it is best for me to leave my Ipod at home. And because of that, I splurged a little into buying the Casette Tape MP3 from Dimensions.

Hot Pink Casette Tape MP3

Product Specs:

Power supplu- USB rechargeable battery

Item Size: 100 x 63 x 8mm

Operation time: Approx 3 hours

Charging hours: 2 hours

*Needs a Micro SD card for memory

So that’s the Product specs. I just tried it out last night. It does play good tunes. I mean for a toylike mp3, it is a good product for me. It is worth P795. The price didn’t bother me because I just wanted it. I can’t resist its cuteness.. And also it is in many colors such as Hot Pink, Light Blue, Yellow and Green.. I even want to buy them all. hehe. It is made in China and made of Plastic (I think). Just don’t drop it ok. It comes with a USB cord that you can attach to your pc or laptop to charge it. It has also a free earphone. It is very lightweight just like a real casette tape. The battery lasted for almost 3-4 hours. Upload MP3 formats only because it cannot detect other formats. I have a spare Micro SD card so it wasn’t a hassle for me to buy a memory card for this. 🙂

Hope this review helped you in someway. 🙂

Casette Tape MP3: 3Thumbs Up

Let me know what you think of this. 🙂

Because of someone, I had a ‘badtrip’ moment. I did the breath in breath out thing to calm myself. I was totally angry. as in ‘gigil.’ The only thing I thought of doing was to grab my ipod and listen to music.

I played the Embrace album of Urbandub. It absolutely calmed me down. I just don’t know how Urbandub penetrates me everytime I’m angry, sad or in short, too emotional.

After hearing one song of Pale Yellow Light, I remembered a foreign band that almost sounds like them. I was still at a friend’s house. Upon my search on my ipod, I saw some songs and played it. These made me chill and relax more:

1. The tracks of My tears

2. Kiss me – Sixpense none the richer

3. Bizarre Love Triangle – Frente

4. Ain’t no Mountain High Enough

5. Everyday is a Winding Road –  Sheryl Crow

6. Am I the same girl – Swing out sister

I’ll just tell you what happened to my song/band searching later on. 🙂

*I don’t usually hear this songs and I didn’t even download it. These were just pre loaded on my ipod.
