Beauty: Going Natural

February 23, 2012 1 comment

I was recently inspired by the Natural looks that Michelle Phan did in her tutorials. I decided to blog about how I do my own Natural “No Make Up” look. But I won’t post a tutorial here. I am just going to enumerate the steps to achieve it and some products that I used.

1. Start with a clean face (Cleanse and Tone). You can also scrub every two weeks(to remove dead/dry skin)  and have a Mask for extra cleansing/ to refresh your skin). Try using St. Ives Face Scrub  and Mineral Clay Firming Mask/ Queen Helene Mint Julep.

2. Moisturize. I always do this even though I have combination to oily skin. Knowing your skin type will make it easier for you to find product to use. I use Clinique Moisturizing Gel.

BB Cream (Maybeline BB Cream in 02 Natural), Mousse Concealer (Ever Bilena in Honey Beige), Mineral Foundation( L.A. Passion in Dark Beige)

3. Prime your face (for make up to last) especially during hot weather. I’m used to using Barenaturals Skin Perfecting Primer. You can also use BB Cream as your base. I’m still searching for a good product though (Thinking of buying Etude House or Faceshop BB Cream). But in the meantime, I am using Maybeline BB Cream (It causes my skin to oil. Thumbs down).

4. Conceal dark spots and undereye area.  Finally, I got a new concealer and it’s cheap. I am used to using Prestige Concealer in Mocha but I ran out. I found out that Ever Bilena Mousse Concealer is good so I tried getting one. It really did a nice cover on my spots and Undereye area. 🙂

5. Foundation. To aim for a natural look, try using a light to medium coverage foundation. For me, I use Mineral powder foundation (because of my skin type) to even out my skin tone on face. I use a Flat Top Kabuki Brush to buff out the powder. A little goes a long way.

6. Prime Lids (If you have oily lids and for better base). This will intensify your e/s color and help not crease it. I haven’t tried Urban Decay Primer Potion though. 😦 But I’m using E.L.F. Eye Primer stick and I recently got the liquid one(Rreviews said It’s better than the stick.

88 E/S Palette from Beauty Cosmetics

7. Use Neutral E/s. Whether you want a one e/s color or a Smoky look, Neutral shades are the best. Highlight and Contour. Most of the time I use my 88 Neutral Palette from Beauty Cosmetics.

Peach Eyeliner ( Nichido #5 Pink Diamond), White Cream Eyeliner (L.A. Colors in CP401 Sea Shells)

Swatches

8. Line Eyes. Tightlining or Invisible Eyeliner is more Natural. For more natural look, use brown. But If you want a more defined eyes, go for black eyeliner. For Waterline, use Peach Colored eyeliner if you’re not into White. Also try using e/s as eyeliner, just spritz some water on your brush/ spongetip.

7. Curl Lashes and Apply Mascara. This is a good trick to fake a doll eye. 🙂 Also apply Mascara on lower lashes. I use Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion (For Volume and Length).

In2It Waterproof Eyebrow Colour (ER 01 Eyebrowns)

8. Define brows. Use a shade that matches your browhair. Try using Powder for your brows for a natural look.

Blush (Shawil Make up blusher in 004) - So pigmented so a little goes a long way; Contour powder ( Etude House in #6 Shading Sexy Fit)

9. Blush, Highlight and Contour. Choose a blush that you like and apply to the apples of your cheek. But because I’m a round face, I put my blush a bit lower than my apples. I also Contour my cheek area, temples of the forehead and jawline to make my face thinner. I also highlight my browbone and inner tear ducts of the eye using White eyeliner pencil or peach color e/s for a fresher look. (Contouring and Highlighting are optional)

Lip Scrub ( Ellana Pink Grapefruit), Lip Balm (Carmex Classic), Matte Lipstick (Ever Bilena Off Beat Pink), Lipliner (Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lipliner #1)

Swatches

10. Put Color into your lips. Scrub your lips to remove dry patches of skin and for fuller and smoother lips. You can either put plain lip Balm (I love Carmex), tinted balm (try Etude House Apricot Stick or Barenaturals Lip products)  or Lip gloss (try Face Shop Glosses). But I used a Matte Pink lipstick for a cute finish. 🙂 For a long wearing and even fuller lips, use Lipliner (Color closest to your lip color).

*For touch up:

1. Blot first your face whether it’s blotting paper or a tissue paper.

2. Touch up using powder

3. If entire lipcolor faded, Erase first the color of your lips  and reapply.

*By the end of the day:

Etude House Lip and Eye Remover

1. Don’t forget to Remove your Make up with a remover. This will make it easier for you to cleanse your face thoroughly. If you don’t have a remover, try using Olive oil.

2. Cleanse

3. Moisturize

My Valentine’s Day Adventure

February 15, 2012 Leave a comment

Today was a tiring but wonderful Valentine’s day. It was a day of adventure for me.

Anyway, back then, I told myself that I’m not going to celebrate this day. But during my UST college days, my friend surprised me with “harana” and flowers for consecutive Vday. She was telling me how I was desperate to have a special someone. She would even make a way to help me find someone. Unfortunately, her plans failed.. 😛

I thought that my Vday during my SPUM college days will be sad. I can’t remember my Vday on my first year. For the second year, I had a Vday date with someone who turned out to be the first one to break my heart. (Boo hoo for me ;( ). Last year was one of the worse Vday. I mean, to think that I was still on the point of moving on from my past. My brothers brought dates, while I was with no one 😦 . (Yeah emo! haha).

But today was another year. I had a date. I didn’t know where we’re going. He just told me to relax and follow him. I dressed up appropriately. I had a feeling that we’ll be walking for a while so I also brought an analog camera and a digital cam.

We went to his mother to gave her flower. –> went to Sigwada Art Gallery but it was closed 😦 –> he thought that the paintings were at Tapsi so we went there –> went to his office (I met his friends) –> I met his collegue who’s into poetry –> Yey he let me eat Potato Corner (He’s helping me to watch out my salt intake) –> we rode a cab to Tomas Morato –> He showed me the art exhibit at Chef’s Bistro ( whom his friend, MJ Tiamzon had a painting) –> we ate at Chili’s (that resto with a big Chili.lol) –> I bought Kozui tea –> Went home

This was a tiring day, but it turned out well for us. He told me he hadn’t plan anything for today. Kudos for him. 🙂 It was his first time.

Book and White Tulip

He gave me White Tulip (I think he remembered that I don’t like red rose)

Ricky Lee dedication 🙂

Best surprise: Latest book from a known writer (scriptwriter, Ricky Lee) with a dedication from him (author).

One thing I told him at the end of the day is that he gave me “Happiness which is PRICELESS.” That’s the best gift he can give me. ^_____^

*Sorry but we don’t have a digital shot. 😛

I needed a lift and it seems that God saved me.

I’ve been staring at my laptop for minutes and thinking of things to post. I haven’t posted in a while.

These days, I’ve been stressing out on certain things that’ll affect my future. I’ve been trying to figure out things to do with my life. As days passed by, I haven’t got the answer. But tonight, I found my answer.

I’ve been thinking of someone to whom I can confide all my thoughts. But I don’t have the courage to share to someone what I’ve been going through these days. I was thinking that doing this won’t help me solve my problem and find answers.

I was checking on my Facebook when I saw a video post of whom I consider to be my Spiritual guide. Pastor Ru dela Torre. He posted this video:

Wise Up! (Answering the question: “What do I do?”)

Ru’s status for this video was “Best advice: Wait on God. 😉 “You won’t be disappointed. ;)” These words made me decide to watch the video. Come to think of it, this was the answer that I was looking for. “Wait on God.”

I think it has been so long since I recognized Him. I haven’t got the drive to attend Mass or even pray. I have been seeking for guidance  for a long time now and I didn’t realize that He was there all along waiting for me to approach Him. I didn’t know what happened to me that ever since my father’s death, I seldom went to Church or even pray. I always try to remind myself that He is always there waiting for me to tell Him things. I know that even though I don’t do so, I know that He sees me. I am so grateful that thru Pastor Ru, God reached out to me. I was thankful for what He has done for me.

I really needed something (or someone) to  give me a lift from what I’ve been going though. I think the Will of God for me will come when the right time comes. I just have to be patient for He has a better plan ahead for me. 🙂

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7

**I am thinking of trying out the 40 day prayer fasting. (I’ve known some who did this for a great purpose). I’m not sure if I can do it, but I will think of this as a sacrifice for God.
